Immediate and Effective Intervention for Promising and Valued Employees

One in ten employees has a drinking problem, and a third of those individuals also use illegal drugs. Unfortunately for their co-workers and the companies for which they work, these “personal problems” often impact the broader organization. For the sake of the individual as well as their company, Seaside Palm Beach has developed an executive intervention program for high value employees suffering from substance abuse. If your organization has an employee who develops a problem with alcohol or drugs, it can negatively affect productivity, performance and morale, as well as put business owners and managers in an extremely difficult situation.

Often, the importance of an employee’s experience and expertise can cause supervisors to (at least temporarily) turn a blind eye to the increasing severity of the employee’s condition. Even as the employee begins to clearly under-perform and negatively impact their colleagues, supervisors may offer multiple “second chances” without ever addressing the real underlying issue in a meaningful way.

Benefits of Executive Intervention

Early drug intervention can have a profoundly positive impact on both the individual and the organization involved. It is the first step on the road to recovery and helps companies increase productivity and organizational morale. It also helps them avoid the legal entanglements (including increased incidents of sexual harassment, accidents, and assault, among others) that can result from having an employee battling substance abuse on the payroll.

Organizing the Process

Our interventionists will meet with your company to define the scope of the employee’s problem. They will also educate the employers and co-workers about the disease of addiction and provide a variety of individualized care options and resources.

Once we have defined boundaries, and have agreed on the options for the individual, a direct supervisor will schedule a meeting with the employee. This meeting is the actual executive intervention, and begins with participants voicing their concerns, including:

  • How the addict’s behavior affects their job performance
  • The risks the company faces
  • The impact of their behavior on the organization

The interventionist will then explain the available executive treatment programs to the individual and attempt to facilitate their enrollment into treatment. It’s important to realize that this intervention may not go as planned and the individual can become defensive. They could deny that they even have a problem and you should prepare for this outcome.

Alcoholism and drug addiction are diseases, and, invariably, the individual who suffers from them will only get worse over time. Unfortunately, your organization will suffer as well. If your employee is battling addiction, it’s time to step in and offer them the help that they deserve. Our executive intervention program in Palm Beach is designed to help employees overcome addiction so that they can return to the workforce with the tools needed for success. Your organization will not be affected anymore once a successful drug intervention takes place. Contact our luxury rehab in Palm Beach to learn more about the treatment options we provide.
